This show is about movies, but it’s really about conversation. We dig into films we love, films we argue about, and films that land differently depending on who’s watching. We compare opinions, challenge each other, and disagree without turning it into a fight. Liking different things doesn’t make anyone wrong, it just makes the conversation better. If you enjoy thoughtful debate, strong opinions, and the idea that fandom should bring people together instead of pushing them apart, you’re in the right place.

This week on Psyber Conversations, we take a break from Star Wars for a special episode and tackle a surprisingly heated pop culture debate. What actually makes a Christmas movie a Christmas movie?
Josh is joined by longtime friend Bob to break down the real criteria. Is it just a movie that takes place during the holidays, or does Christmas actually have to drive the story?
That question leads to a spirited discussion about classics and controversies including Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Batman Returns, Gremlins, Iron Man 3, Edward Scissorhands, and more. We also dig into one of the biggest holiday staples of all time and ask a question that might make some people very uncomfortable. Is It’s a Wonderful Life even a Christmas movie?
Along the way the conversation dives into family traditions, weird movie classifications, and the strange ways certain films become holiday viewing even when they probably were never meant to be.
If you’ve ever argued about whether Die Hard belongs in the Christmas movie category, this episode is definitely for you.

Our deep dive into Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace continues.
In Part 2, we move from the underwater world of the Gungans to the stunning city of Theed, breaking down some of the film’s most memorable moments and most debated ideas. We talk about the strange beauty of Gungan City, the journey through Naboo’s “planet core,” and whether the Trade Federation blockade actually makes sense.
From there the story takes us to Tatooine, where we meet a young Anakin Skywalker, get introduced to midichlorians, and witness one of the most iconic scenes in the prequels: the podrace.
Along the way we debate Jar Jar Binks, Qui-Gon’s questionable gambling strategy, the mystery of Anakin’s birth, and the strange logic of Watto’s junk shop. Is George Lucas expanding the mythology or overexplaining the Force? And does the podrace still hold up as one of the most exciting sequences in Star Wars?
This is Part 2 of our multi-episode breakdown of The Phantom Menace, and the conversation only gets more interesting from here.
